I finished my short, and I'd like some feedback.

Apologies for the hiss, it only appeared after I exported it to quicktime.

there are some strange edits and something that's either a strange edit or a quicktime glitch just before the guy is pushed against the wall. unless that was a creative choice... (or my pc)

the sound effect when the girl got slapped also seemed understated.

Either I didn't get it or it doesn't have a point. I can't say I really enjoyed it, it's a little "arty" in places for what it is but overall it's pretty good, fairly well made and a very good length.

the exterior shots looked really good, considering it was shot during the night.

The lensflare shot was ugly. It detracted too much from where I was supposed to look at, meaning the guy, and the composition wasn't what I would've gone for, but those are all personal choises.

The shots were nice, the music was pretty good, the story didn't make any sense ( I guess the joke was that he was just a gossiping pansy in the end?) and the action was ok, except for that girl part.

I really didn't like the music or the ending. Other than that I thought it was ok but ultimately pointless (cos I didn't get the ending).

Was there Excorcist influences in there?

The telephone gag might've worked better if it was Millionaire's Phone-A-Friend or something.

Are we supposed to believe that the two on the sofa were the indtruders and their intrusion was punishable by death?

Hello

I think the comments up there are a little unfair.
I thought it was pretty good. At least felt like a film, not a video home movie. Just the right sort of length, and the 'arty' bits worked for me (I assume these are the quick cuts at the beginning)
The lens flare shot IS really Awful in my opinion, in fact really really bad, but it looks deliberate as well, so you obviously liked it.

Music was good too, suited it, helped drive it all forward.

Anyway, I kind of chuckled.
Dont think there is anything to 'get'.

Kiff - I don't see the glitch. strange edits? how so - do you mean the white flashes? I'm not happy with the slap myself, it doesn't sound right (no small room echo for a start). I should have recorded the sound effects on location as wild sound.

Emjen - the joke was it was his house, if you picked up the clues (can't find the whiskey, tire iron on the floor). Pretty much no-one has got it so far, which says a lot...

Miker - exorcist? not consciously, although I did exploit a lot of clich?s in general. Phone a friend? good idea, if a little tricky on copyright clearance. Intruders? if you like [img]wink.gif[/img]

jb - it needs the latest quicktime. I'm working on a different format, any requests?

eddie - The music was going to be more Max Steiner, but in the end we ran out of time and knocked it together in a night. The "ugly" shot was deliberate, meant to give Valo a halo [img]graemlins/sure.gif[/img]

Well my person preference would be for .ram, or .wmv, but .avi, .mpeg, or anything except .mov is fine. I don't use quicktime at all (a lot of people who put their movies up on here should note that it's one of the least used formats) because I don't like the "features" in the software. Plus it's a crappy encoder which could explain Kiffs' problems.
